On this trip, you’ll discover the Valley of the Kings the royal burial of 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties kings. Some kings’ tombs are included in our tour and some tombs with extra fees. The breathtaking Valley of the Kings houses vivid color paintings depicting scenes and occasions related to the king in his lifetime.

One of the spectacular monuments in the West Bank in our trip is the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. The temple was built during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir EL Bahari on the West Bank to be a place to practice her cult. The Temple consists of 3 floors and each floor ends up with a colonnade. Just beyond the portico on the top floor is an open courtyard. Its pillars are flanked by mummiform statues of Hatshepsut as Osiris, the god of the dead.

On our way back we’ll visit the 2 colossi of Memnon which were built for purpose of guarding the mortuary temple of King Amenhotep the 3rd. The 2 statues are standing at the height of 18m and they are designed to show King Amenhotep in a seating position. After knowing that, there is no wonder that the West Bank trip is one of the most requested trips in Luxor and Aswan packages.

The Itinerary

  • Starting our discovery with the Valley of the Kings, where about 62 tombs of kings have been discovered. The location of this burial ground was chosen carefully on the west side of the Nile as a result of the sun god dying in the western horizon and rising again, revitalized, in the eastern horizon. The walls were covered with sculptured and painted scenes showing the deceased king in the presence of gods, particularly the gods of the underworld, as well as illustrated magical texts resembling those found in funerary papyri, which were meant to aid him in his journey through the underworld.
  • After that, we’ll move to visit the unusual Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. The walls of the temple are still impressive and depict religious scenes and some occasions such as transferring obelisks from their quarry to the temple. You’ll notice other well-painted and preserved scenes for Queen Hatshepsut’s expedition to Punt.
  • We’ll end our trip at the West Bank with one of the remarkable monuments in Luxor, The 2 Colossi of Memnon. The 2 statues are the first thing your eyes will see within your entry to the West Bank. The Colossi of Memnon have been attributed by the Romans to the African King Memnon. There is an old myth about the northern statue that says it whistles during sunrise, maybe cause of there is a crack in his body that happened during an old earthquake.
