Pyramids of Egypt

Egypt is well-known for its pyramids. But do you know how many pyramids Egypt has?
Actually there are around 118 Pyramids in Egypt that were built for different kings and queens from different dynasties. Although Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus are the most famous pyramids in Egypt,
there are a lot of other great pyramids that are really worth visiting such as the Bent Pyramid,
Pyramids of Djoser, the red pyramid, and the black pyramid. In this blog,
we will take you on a virtual trip to discover Egyptian pyramids and know more about the ancient Egyptian majesty.

One of the Pyramids of Egypt is the Bent Pyramid

The Bent Pyramid – also called the pyramid of Sneferu- is located in Dahshur, Egypt.
The bent pyramid was built for Pharaoh Sneferu, the father of Pharaoh Khofu who built the greatest pyramid of Giza.
The pyramid was a trial to be the first smooth-sided pyramid, but unfortunately, a lot of architectural issues happened.

What else do we know about the Bent Pyramid ?

The pyramid is made out of limestones with a height of 104 meters.
The Bent Pyramid has two entrances, one fairly low down on the north side, to which a substantial wooden stairway has been built for the convenience of tourists. The second entrance is high on the west face of the pyramid.
Each entrance leads to a chamber with a high, corbelled roof;
the northern entrance leads to a chamber that is below ground level,
the western to a chamber built in the body of the pyramid itself.
On the east side of the pyramid there are the fragmentary remains of the pyramid temple.
Like the pyramid temple of the Meidum pyramid, there are two stelae behind the temple,
though of these only stumps remain. There is no trace of inscription to be seen.
The temple remains are fragmentary but it is presumed to be similar to that of the Medium temple.

Djoser pyramid

The Step Pyramid of Djoser, is an archaeological site in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt.
The pyramid is the earliest colossal stone building in Egypt It was built in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser.
The structure consists of the six distinct layers, or steps, of diminishing size built on top of one another.
Archeologists understand this to be an embellishment of earlier and earlier practice where pharaohs were buried under a mastaba, a flat rectangular structure that is like a grave covering.

The red pyramid

the red pyramid

The Red Pyramid is the highest in Dahshur, and its name of “Red” is due to the reddish rusty color of its stones.
The Red Pyramid was one of three pyramids built by King Sneferu after the Bent Pyramid.
On the northern side of the pyramid, there is an entrance that leads to the inner chamber connected by a second chamber with a passageway.
At the end of the second chamber, there is a way that leads to the burial chamber, and by all, we can see that the pyramid has three small chambers with high walls, probably of the same size.
